Ukadiche Modak | Steamed Modak | Sweet Dumplings

Ukadiche Modak is a sweet Maharashtrian desert which means "steamed dumplings" made with rice flour, freshly grated coconut and jaggery. These Modaks are believed to be favourite sweets of Lord Ganesha and made on the first day of Ganesh Chaturthi festival to welcome Ganpati Bappa. This is a mouth watering delicacy which you can try and make often to master the recipe. This is a 5 ingredients receipe and made in 2 steps. The first step is to prepare the filling and then the second step is prepare the ukad/the outer covering. INGREDIENTS For Modak filling 1 cup of freshly grated coconut 3/4 cup of jaggery(brown) 1 tbsp ghee 1 tbsp poppy seeds For Modak dough 1 cup of rice flour (better fresh) 1 cup of water 1 tbsp ghee A pinch of salt METHOD For the dough Boil water in a deep pan, add ghee and salt .
