Bharli mirchi | Stuffed Chilly

This is the simplest bharli mirchi recipe with just 3 ingredients coconut, tumeric powder and salt. The result is spicy Bharli Mirchi that tastes delightful as a side-dish for Varan Bhaat (Maharashtrian Style Dal Rice) or even bhakri(flat bread made with jowar/bajra/ragi)

The green chillies you need for this dish are the large light green ones which are not too spicy. And you need to be careful while slitting the chillies so that you don't break it and also the slit is big enough to be able to stuff it properly.

INGREDIENTS

▢ 4 light green chillies

▢1 cup grated fresh coconut

▢½ tsp tumeric powder

▢salt to taste

▢oil for pan frying

INSTRUCTIONS

Firstly we are going to prepare the chillies. Wash the chillies well and then slit it in the center enough so that it has leeway to put and hold the stuffing and not too big because that will break the chillies.

De seed the chillies if there are lot of seeds.

Rub a pinch of salt inside each chilly so that the chillies are well seasoned.

For the stuffing add grated fresh coconut, tumeric powder and salt to a bowl. Mix all the ingredients well.

We haven't added any spice as the chillies are enough spicy in itself.

Now stuff the mix in each chillies. Make sure to not over stuff the chillies otherwise the stuffing will just pop out while frying. Just stuff enough so that the slit end of the chilly is closed.

And they are ready to fryyyy.

Heat the pan and add some oil. And place the green chillies in the pan.

Warning: After placing the chillies in the pan the oil splutters so make sure to immediately cover the lid of the pan for a few minutes.

Keep turning the chillies occasionally to make sure it is cooked till golden brown.

Turn off the flame and bharli mirchi is ready to be served either with bhakri or varan bhaat.😋
